The best of Serbia and Montenegro

DAY ONE - BELGRADE

Arrival at Belgrade airport, welcome and transfer to the hotel. Accommodation. Optional evening boat tour "Belgrade from rivers" or dinner at national restaurant with music and folklore show. Overnight in the hotel.

DAY TWO - BELGRADE

After breakfast we take our sightseeing tour of Belgrade. Belgrade is the town at the junction of the rivers Sava and Danube 7000 years old. The Sava coming from the west, and the Danube arriving from the north, join their waters to proceed eastwards. The fortress, built on the high ground is overlooking the confluence of these two rivers. It was laid in ruins some sixty times but always arose from its cinders. For centuries it was a frontier fortress, the apple of contend between rivaling invaders, Romans, Goths, Avars, Huns, Byzantians, Crusaders, Hungarians, Turks and others. Its oldest recorded name was Singidunum. In the 9th century A.D document call it "Alba Graeca" - "White City" which is precisely what Belgrade means in Serbian. Free time for lunch and shopping. In the evening hours we will visit old Skadarlija street, one of the rare quarters with original ambience. The pedestrian street has preserved the authentic buildings of the past times together with the spirit of the days when it was the center of bohemian culture. It is well known for its crowded and lively cafes and restaurants which specialize in live music and traditional cuisine. This part of old town is favourite meeting place in summer with and open arena for theatre, exhibitions and other events. Overnight in the hotel.


DAY THREE
BELGRADE - TOPOLA - OVCAR AND CABLAR MONASTERIES - ZLATIBOR


After breakfast departure form Belgrade for tour through picturesque countryside of central Serbia (Sumadija). Topola, town in the very heart of Sumadija. It is an ancient town marked during the 18-20 century. Visit to the Karadjordje fortification, residence, church, monument and memorial park. Near the town, at the hill of Oplenac there is the complex comprising the church of Saint George and mausoleum of the Karadjordjevic dynasty. Famous mosaics in the church and in the crypt are the best achievements of fresco paintings in Serbia. The relics of the Karadjordjevic dynasty are placed in the crypt. On our way to Zlatibor mountain we pass the monasteries of the Ovcar-Kablar region. In the beautiful gorges of Western Morava river there are 14 Serbian old monasteries from the 13, 14, 15 and 16 century. Most of them were built during Turkish invasion when orthodox churches had to move to isolated parts of the country. Scattered among the cliffs, illuminating the landscape with the strong spirit, they are Serbian "Mont Athos". Free time for lunch in traditional restaurant. Ruins of the old town of Uzice can be seen of the way to Zlatibor, mountain known for is remarkable beauty, vast pastures, picturesque hills, rivers and creeks, A "healthy" mountain, suitable for relaxation, recreation activities and a good place for congress tourism. A large number of hotels, rest homes and apartments will offer all the necessary for you to feel good and comfortable. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.


DAY FOUR - MILESEVA MONASTERY - ZABLJAK

Breakfast. Departure from Zlatibor. Visit to Mileseva / Raska-style monastery, jewel of Nemanjic dynasty, built by king Vladislav, with famous brilliant fresco painting "White Angel". Lunch at national restaurant near monastery. Our tour continues to Zabljak - mountain Durmitor with 22 magnificent lakes and beautiful river Tara, unique and precious part of the nature. The luxurious colours of flora and faun, the foaming waterfall and caves decoration, the numerous wonders in the Durmitor National Park, sparkling lakes shimmering between the cliffs of Durmitor mountain are completing the fascinating picture of 1000m deep Tara Canyon. Dinner and overnight at Zabljak hotel.


DAY FIVE - TARA RAFTING - NIKSIC MONASTERY

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to rafting position, for the people with excitement spirit. Each moment of cruising is filled with joy and wish to do it again. (Optional) Less adventures can enjoy in beautiful view of national park and Tara Canyon. After lunch visit to the famous, old Piva monastery. We continue our tour to the Montenegro seaside. Dinner and overnight at the hotel on the seaside.

DAY SIX - HERCEG NOVI - KOTOR - SVETI STEFAN - BUDVA

After breakfast, we start our sightseeing tour. Herceg Novi was established in 1382. by the King Tvrtko. With its four towers it stands firmly at the entrance of Boka bay. Town with the seven kilomenters long promenade, Mediterranean center of health tourism, a pleasant resort with hundred of exotic species (eucalyptuses, oleanders, mimosas) brought here from the different corners of the world by the sea captains of Herceg Novi.
Old town of Kotor is the best preserved urban structure of medieval city in this region, typical for 12th - 14th century. With its narrow streets and squares in asymmetrical arrangement of its medieval monuments, is included in UNESCO world heritage list. Old town on the whole is unique architecture unit. Lunch in national restaurant and visit to Budva, Sveti Stefan and Milocer.
Budva - the best known tourist area in Montenegro with its festivals and open air theatre performances. Between the dense vegetation and the sea there are the long sandy beaches with comfortable hotels. The old town of Budva is an unique architecture monument. Sveti Stefan - The medieval fisherman's village built on the rocky island is connected with land by the narrow sand isthmus. Nowdays hotel-town which has been host to many of the world celebrities in business, politics and entertainment.
Milocer - former the royal summer residence with wonderful park and long private sand beach. Evening return to the hotel, dinner. Overnight.

DAY SEVEN - FREE TIME

Free day to enjoy and relax on the coast. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.


DAY EIGHT - FREE TIME (or optional DUBROVNIK)

After breakfast, free day or optional sightseeing tour to Dubrovnik. There are scores of other time - stained cities, but there is only one Dubrovnik: jewel-case transposed into stone, dazzling by the harmony and magnificence of its architecture. It is one of the world cultural monuments set under UNESCO protection. Dinner and overnight in the hotel on Montenegro coast.
DAY NINE - OSTROG MONASTERY - LAKE SKADAR

Breakfast. Early in the morning departure to Ostrog Monastery, one of the most important Serbian sanctuary, which stands on rocky cliff on 1000m height above see level. It had a turbulent history connected with a Turkish attacks. Thousand and thousand tourists come to Ostrog upper church, to find the health and mercy from the Saint Vasilije. Visit to Skadar lake, the last habitat of pelicans, the largest bird preserve in Europe, and one of the last sweet water swamps on the Mediterranean. It is also the largest lake on the Balkan and one of the biggest natural and historical attraction in Montenegro. Lunch. In the evening return to hotel, dinner and overnight.


DAY TEN - BELGRADE

Breakfast in the hotel.

A - We return to Belgrade by bus, having few stops on the way. Evening arrival, dinner and overnight.

A1 - DAY ELEVEN. After breakfast trasfer to the airport and flight to your home.

B - Transfer to Tivat airport for a flight to Belgrade (one hour) connecting with flight to your home.

B1 - If you are staying one more day in Belgrade transfer to the hotel overnight DAY ELEVEN. After breakfast transfer to the airport for your flight home.

NOTE: Possible extension of the program with one or more days in Belgrade, Zlatibor or Montenegro seaside.
