Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Departure from Belgrade at 7:00 a.m. to Vinca, fascinating archaeological site presenting the foundation of known European civilization. Drive to Smederevo on the bank of the Danube River and panoramic visit to the old fortress. Drive on through Gornjak gorge to Gornjak Monastery. Road to Brestovaka Banja Spa and Bor Lake goes through small villages surrounded by slopes of gorgeous Homolje and Beljanica mountains along Resavica River. Lunch. Visit to Zlot cave. Hotel accommodation, traditional dinner and overnight in hotel settled in intact nature.
Day 2: Drive starts at 8:00 a.m. taking us to Gamzigrad village where the former Roman city Felix Romuliana is located. Visit to the precious mosaics in Emperor’s Palace and nearby hill called Magura, the burial place of Roman Emperor Galerius and his mother Romula. Drive to Knjazevac and lunch. Visit to the Archeological Museum and ancient settlement Timacuminus. Drive along fascinating slopes of Svrljig Mountains to Svrljig and accommodation in private households. Traditional dinner in the most hospitable restaurant serving famous portions of grilled meat literary “measured in meters”. Overnight.
Day 3: After breakfast visit to Prekonoska Cave and departure to Nis. Panoramic Nis sightseeing and visit to Mediana, former imperial summer residence of Roman Emperor Constantin the Great. Drive through magnificent Sicevo gorge and lunch with short break. Visit to Temska Monastery devoted to the Mother of God. Drive to Pirot and visit to the archaeological Ponisavlje Museum, one of the nicest examples of Balkan-style city dwelling from 19th century with excellent collection of folk costumes. Drive to Sukovo Monastery located in the heart of Stara planina Mountain and sightseeing. Accommodation in monastery lodgings/rural households, traditional dinner, overnight.
Day 4: Breakfast and 3 hours stroll through the virgin nature rich in herbs, woods, springs, peaks visiting the impressive Jerma canyon and Poganovo Monastery. Drive to Dimitrovgrad with short brake in Zvonacka Banja Spa, famous for magnificent landscape. In Dimitrovgrad visit to the Museum and the Library of Hristo Botev and the Church of Mother’God Resurrection with unique iconostasis carved in wood. Drive to the interactive farm breeding authentic horses and rustic lunch - organic food. Afternoon drive to Vlasina Lake and accommodation in villas settled along the shore of magnificent lake rich in various kinds of birds and animals. Traditional dinner, overnight.
Day 5: After breakfast invigorating walk along the lake, picking up the medicinal herbs and departure to Bosilegrad. Visit to the farm „The Eight Day“, The village of Izvor and rural settlement presenting traditional architecture and local people way of life. Branch and drive along slopes of Besna Kobila and Cemernik Mountains with random flocks of sheep and lambs. Drive through the Grdelica Gorge and traditional lunch. Visit to the ancient site of Empress’ town in Lebane. Short break for intact nature walk ready to be explored for its wildness. Drive to Ribarska Banja Spa. Accommodation in hotel, dinner, overnight.
Day 6: After breakfast short walk through the Ribarska Banja Spa park and drive by highway to Bovan Lake. Drive to the Rtanj Mountain known for its remarkable natural beauties, mild climate, plenty of springs, waterfalls and healing medicinal herbs. Traditional lunch and visit to the Bazaar of medicinal herbs. Drive through Krivi Vir to Ravanica and Manasija Monasteries, the most significant examples of Byzantian architecture. Sightseeing and enjoyment in rich cultural heritage. Drive by highway to Velika Plana and hotel accommodation. Dinner, overnight.
Day 7: After breakfast visit to the log church of Pokajnica in Radovanjski Lug village. Theater performance „Karadjordje koje kude“ about Serbian upraising against Turkish conquest. Cottage lunch and drive by highway to Pozarevac with visit to Viminacium the valuable archaeological site from the 1st century A.D. Late evening arrival to Belgrade and end of program.
